Entertaining in the Apartment

This year Cliff and I finally hit just the right balance for holiday entertaining. We decided to have a Sunday open house the second weekend in January. Everyone was back from their assorted holiday travels and far less busy than in December. We did an e-vite and just said come anytime between 2-5. This way we weren't throwing a full meal- just snacks. It was a great way to get rid of some of the candy and cookies that pile up around the holidays! I made my friend Kates famous Wasail and served Ikea Swedish meatballs in the crock-pot. They were super easy and a big hit. I also served veggies and dip and some cheese, sausage and crackers that we had gotten in a holiday basket. Throughout the afternoon about 12 people came. Since they came and left at different times everyone fit! That can be tricky when you only have one room for entertaining.

Here's something I have been thinking about-spray painting my crock-pot! I'd love for it to be red, but the ceramic part is peach colored. Maybe black or silver? I'd don't know, maybe I should leave well enough alone. Thoughts?

I think you should be able to paint your crockpot. I think color adds so much. Or maybe you could cover it with a vinyl or some other shiny, pliable thing.

The outside gets warm but not hot so, would you need to use a heat resistant paint?

you might try an auto supply store for heat resistant paint. i know you can buy black for your outdoor grill in the home centers but for color selections an auto supply might be an option. let us know what you decide.

I wonder if you could try paining it with black chaulk board paint - You could then write on the pot what is cooking inside it!
If you try it and it works - please give the instructions so we could try it too! I love your blog & ideas. Thanks for sharing.

oooh, i guess i'm the odd man out here cuz everyone else seems to think it would be fine, but i hear "spray paint" on the crock pot and it just makes me nervous....thats just me though, who is always pretty sure i will be the next statistic- ha! ;)

You're a master with the spray paint so if anyone could do it you could. My first thought, however, would be to sew a cozy for it instead.

I have that same crock-pot and I am searching for a way to paint it. I am linking of chalkboard paint and saw someone had done that.
