Post Card Pillow
Just before Christmas I had another crafty play date with my friend Kat. She graciously let me use her color printer to print out both the front and the back of this vintage postcard onto printer fabric. Kat's printer is so awesome that you can even see the embossed texture of the postcard!
I then sewed it to some scraps of upholstery weight velvet that I had in my stash.
The most beautiful part- that post card was written by my Great Grandmother on behalf of my grandmother (Hattie Ringrose) when she was just four years old!
I found it in my "Grandmother Remembers" book and it had a little note attached:
Dear Jane,
This is the kind of Christmas card we used to send. My mother wrote these for me when I was four years old. Evelyn became my favorite cousin.
Love, Grandma
If you look closely you can see that it was postmarked on the 25th. My guess is that it was a special postmark just for Christmas cards. How nice!
I have an idea for a patchwork pillow with snippets of letters in it. Sometimes handwriting alone brings back memories.
Do you have any special letters that deserve to be shared?
I am linking up to this week's Brag Monday at Graphics Fairy today. Such inspiration! Head on over!
Updated: I am not sure what kind of printer Kat has. The printer fabric I used can go into any inkjet printer.

That is awesome! I've never done anything like that, how do you do it?
That is so cool. Such a treasure to have.
Gorgeous pillow Jane!!! This is such a perfect project for your grandmother's card, now you can enjoy it every year at Christmas for many years to come. That decorative edge is a really nice touch too! Thanks again for letting me share your beautiful card with my readers and thanks for playing along again for another "Brag Monday"!
That's precious! I have a bunch of old postcards that my grandma gave me too but no holiday ones. Very cool.

This is so cute! I think the personal nature of it really "makes" the project though. I'll have to seek out some special items - I'm thinking even old photos would look great.
